Green Silicon Carbide

Petroleum coke and high-purity silica reacted above 1800 °C in a resistance furnace. Harder than corundum and mechanically stronger, with high thermal conductivity and semiconducting behaviour — the standard choice for slicing and lapping hard, brittle materials.
